Kane wandered out from work after a long day working on cars. He loved his job, but sometimes customers just got on his nerves. That was why he stayed in the shop and well away from the front office. He hardly spoke to anyone there, even his co workers, preferring to work quietly and get the job done. He was good at what he did, and the shop was considered one of the best in the area. He had no illusions that such an opinion had anything to do with him however; he was just one of the crew as far as he was concerned. He straddled his 1941 Indian four-cylinder motorcycle and headed out to his usual nightly wind down place, Jay-Dee Café.

He parked in his usual spot and headed inside, nodding to the guys inside who worked there and sat down at his usual corner table near the end of the bar itself. The regulars typically left him alone, though there were the occasional idiots who just had to get in his face. They usually ended up meeting Kane’s fist rather forcefully and were shortly escorted out. Tonight seemed like a slower night, as was usual being the middle of the week and Kane figured he could kick back and relax for a while.

At least, that was his hope as he started eating his beef and bean nachos and drank a bit of the beer that was brought to him. Cindy, one of the waitresses, always knew what time he would be there and made sure she had his usual waiting for him, hot and fresh. He nodded to her, though he mostly tended to keep to himself. A couple of the girls seemed to like him even though he rarely spoke to anyone there, something he never could understand. They usually had good burgers there and he contemplated ordering one as he munched on his nachos.

KI3T

A black Mustang quietly rolled up to the front of Jay Dee Cafe'. KITT was parked a few parking spaces to the left of Kane's old bike, the double red scanner pacing in and out hypnotically as usual. Mike and Cira were KITT's passengers, with Mike at the wheel. Kane was their first target, and KITT already spotted his bike. "He is definitely here" He said as he shut his engine off.

Mike Traceur
Mike Traceur sig logos.png
Mike nodded at that and looked at Cira. “Two years ago I ran into a bit of a rough spot and ended up in a six on one fight here. Out of nowhere this guy comes out and evens up the odds. Ended up having a couple beers with him afterwards. That was when I met Kane Aries. Not a bad guy, quiet, likes cars, you’d like him.” he chuckled and glanced at Cira. He was joking of course, there was no man alive good enough for his little sister as far as Mike was concerned, though he understood she had the right to make her own decisions in that regard. “Well, let’s go have a chat then.” He got out and headed for the front door.

Cira Knight
CiraTKRsig.png
Cira nodded confidently as she stepped out of KITT and followed Mike. "Yep, this should be interesting..." she replied cheerfully as they walked in. She snuck a glance back at KITT, eying his shiny form once more before turning her full attention back to the cafe.

The air immediately consumed itself with an array of cheese, bread, meat, and other food items. She had to force herself to keep herself from drifting to the main line to order some food. "Oh God that smells good...I'ma have ta grab some food before we go if you don't mind...it's calling ta me already!" she took her eyes off the menu on the ceiling and turned her gaze towards the bar, eventually catching her eyes on a good looking man with long hair, no other than Kane himself.

Mike Traceur
Mike chuckled at Cira’s reaction. “Sure, I’m kinda hungry too. There’s Kane over there, we’ll get some food while we’re here.” he said and headed over to where Kane was. “Hey man, long time no see, how’s life been treating ya?” he asked as he stepped up to Kane.

Kane looked over as Mike walked up to him and had to chuckle. “Hey, I’m alright. You keepin’ yourself out of fights you shouldn’t get into?” he asked jokingly. He glanced at the woman with him with a curious tilt of his head. “Girlfriend?” he asked.

Mike chuckled and shook his head at that. “I try to. And no, sister. We came to talk to you about something, thought you’d be interested.” He told Kane, hoping to pique his interest enough to want to know what was up.

Kane Aries
Kane nodded, raising an eyebrow slightly as he regarded the pair. “Okay, what’re you getting me into this time, Mike?” he asked with an air of someone who’s seen way too many fights. “And am I gonna have to kill somebody?” he added with a smirk, not really serious about the last bit.

Mike chuckled and shook his head. “It’s nothing bad, just a job doing something you enjoy, working on cars. Only these cars are pretty special.” He leaned forward and lowered his voice. “Very special.” He added softly.

Kane gave him an odd look and decided discretion was best, so he picked up his plate of nachos and beer, motioning for them to follow him to a quieter part of the bar towards the back away from the crowd. Sitting down at a rear booth, he looked at them. “Alright, what’s so special about these cars then?” he asked and took another bite from his nachos. Mike had never told him about KI3T and Kane had no idea what he was about to get drawn into.

Cira Knight
Cira followed the two men. Temporarily speed walking even though it was not needed, she hopped/vaulted over one of the tables on the left side, obviously not feeling like walking around it.

"Technologically advanced cars, ones nothin' like ya've seen on the streets, not even ones that the rich folks can afford. We could spend thirty minutes or whatever yappin' about how amazing they are, but if it's all right with Mike, I'd ta offer you a ride in his vehicle ta see exactly how special we're talkin' about. I think it may make things more interesting for ya," Cira offered, keeping her voice low key for now. "And enjoyable." she added, folding her arms as she stood about her arm's length next to Mike for the time being.

Mike Traceur
Mike looked over at Cira and chuckled. “Yeah, we could do that. Would certainly get the point across in a hurry.” He then sat back a bit. “I thought you were hungry though, Cira. Why don’t we eat first, let everyone get to know each other, then introduce him to our friend?” he said and patted the seat next to him. There was really no hurry and they all likely needed to eat something before they went anywhere. He knew that Kane was still working on his food and that he and his sister were both hungry, so he looked over at the man sitting across from him. “So, food wise, what’s good here?”

Kane Aries
Kane was not quite sure what to make of any of this. Technologically advanced cars? A friend waiting for them outside? He began to wonder about Mike and his sister, Cira did he call her? It was all beyond him at the moment, but then, if the job really was working on cars, well, at least it was up his alley. Kane had worked on just about everything from vehicles from the 30’s and 40’s to 1960’s muscle cars and work trucks to mid 80’s horsepower to the newer computerized vehicles and smart cars. While he preferred god old reliable Detroit steel and old school muscle, he could appreciate the newer ones as well, even if some were a pain to work on. He regarded Mike’s question about the food and had to chuckle a bit. “Pretty much all of it.” he answered, then suggested his usual fare. “I usually get the taco nachos and the burgers here.”

Cira Knight
"Eh the food coulda waited till we got back if needed," Cira replied, glancing at Mike as she waved a right hand in a carefree manner. "But yes, I'm all up for getting food first before we leave for a bit. I'll be back in a flash!" she added before prancing off to take her order and 'lazily' hopping over one or two tables on the way.

Mike Traceur
Mike had to chuckle and shake his head at his sister’s antics. She always was the type to never sit still for long, constantly moving and a bottomless stomach to sustain that energy. He turned back to Kane and gave a helpless shrug.

“She always like that?” Kane asked with a chuckle of his own.

Mike nodded a bit. “Yeah, she ended up getting the nickname Trunk Monkey some years ago for leaping out of the trunk of her car at her friends. She loved that car, an old Trans Am, ’82 I think it was. It ended up getting totaled though, she still misses it.” He shook his head slightly, knowing exactly what car it was, but decided to keep it to himself for now. “She does what’s called free running, has since she was in junior high. A bunch of her friends got her into it and now she just does it all the time. You should see her in parking garages. She’s like a monkey bouncing all over the place, over cars, climbing walls and such. It’s crazy, but she enjoys it.” he shrugged. He had to admire Cira’s athleticism and energy, she really was always moving, hated sitting still, and loved cars, especially one in particular.

Kane Aries
Kane nodded and pondered the vehicle Mike had mentioned. “Trans are cool. I’ve got a ’73 ‘Bird myself; good car, decent ride. They do have some push under the hood, that’s for sure. I’ve got a few vehicles actually. Besides the ‘41 Indian four-cylinder bike sittin’ outside I also have a ‘76 Honda Goldwing GL1000. Then there’s my truck, a 1950 Chevy 3100; and my cars: a ‘68 Dodge Charger RT, ‘69 Chevy Camaro SS, the ‘73 Pontiac Firebird Trans-Am SD-455, my ‘68 Pontiac GTO, and a ‘65 Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe.” Kane was obviously proud of his cars and loved working on them and driving them. “They’re all modded of course, being a stunt driver n my dad races, you learn a thing or twelve about what a car can and can’t do. Done a few street runs here and there in the Goat. Dad’s got a ‘65 Ford Mustang Fastback he rides. I love that car. He’s already said that when he dies the ‘Stang is mine.” He chuckled a bit at that. “Though he said he may end up giving it to me before then. He never really liked the idea of that car passing over his grave, thought it would taint the spirit of the car and how I felt about it…”

Kane sat back then, remembering how he used to sneak out and drive it while his dad and older brother were down at the race track. Even as a kid he was always careful with the cars he drove, especially his father’s Mustang. When he was little his parents used to catch him curled up in the drivers seat fast asleep, one of the main reasons his father wrote it in his Will that Kane was to get that car. It was the only thing Kane wanted really, anything else he wasn’t concerned about and he and his older brother had it worked out pretty well. They had to at one point when their father very nearly died in a track race. They thought they were going to have to make plans for their father’s funeral five years ago and his brother remembered how much Kane loved that car, asking him if he wanted the black Mustang. Kane had been numb then, merely nodding in response. When their father recovered he sat down with his two sons and wrote out exactly what would happen to everything he owned if he were to die, giving the property to their mother, which would then go to Kane’s brother when she died since he had a family. Kane would get the Mustang and garage full of tools and equipment to cover anything he didn’t already have. The other vehicles would go to Kane’s brother, and the rest would be up to their mother to decide. Kane didn’t like the idea of his father dying, but he knew it would happen eventually.

He shook his head then and sighed. “My brother’s Pit Boss for my dad’s racing crew. I go out n work with them sometimes. He stared out as a street rat before he went legit.” he shrugged. “I suppose I’ve kind of followed him in that, though instead of racing I do stunt work.” he added with a smirk. “I swear I was born with a socket wrench in one hand, steering wheel in the other, motor oil in my veins, and weaned on gasoline. Cars are my life, n I usually get along better with them than I do people.” he admitted. He then thought about Mike’s offer to work on these ‘High Tech Special Cars’ he mentioned, wondering just how ‘High Tech’ and ‘Special’ they really were. He then looked at Mike. “If I say yes, there’s certain considerations I’d like understood though: I don’t like people talking at me or getting in the way when I’m working, and if it’s my job to work on the cars, then it’s my job to work on them. I don’t need people trying to do my job for me or telling me how to do it, irritates the hell out of me.”

He paused a moment, then gave Mike a stern look. “And no body goes and gets weird about me talking to the cars the way I do. I know cars don’t talk, it’s just how I work.” His stern expression cracked into a smirk and he chuckled. “Well, yeah, I do talk to my cars sometimes, just feels like they have a soul, you know? Especially the older ones, they have personality. Treat them right n they’ll take care of ya.” It was common among some of the old school type mechanics and drivers to personify their vehicles with some form of personality, even naming them, something Kane understood well since he did much the same thing. What Kane didn’t know was that the cars he was being offered the job to work on would actually talk back to him, but he would find that out soon enough.

For his part, Mike could only chuckle at Kane’s remarks and attitude towards cars. {“Oh, if only you knew, Kane…”} he thought inwardly, trying not to bust out laughing at imagining the long haired mechanic’s reaction when he finds out.

Cira Knight
Cira walked over to them and heard the very last few lines of Kane's reply. "But of course. Don't worry, I assure ya, that won't be a problem with these cars." she replied. "Yer not the only one that talks to 'inanimate objects'. I talk to my vehicles all the time. Used to do the same thing to my War Pig when I was still flyin'. The weird looks never bothered me if I happened to be caught." she added with a shrug and a smile.

Mike Traceur
Mike could only chuckle and shake his head helplessly. “You should have heard his list of cars he’s got, Cira. Nice ones too.” he remarked with a smirk and looked at Kane. He then looked back at Cira. “You order some food for me too or just for you?” he asked his sister curiously.

Kane Aries
Kane looked over at Cira as she walked up, tilting his head at her response. He had to smile a bit that she talked to her cars too, though he wasn’t going to ask what a War Pig was, though he figured it was an aircraft given her remark about flying. Kane’s forte was cars, not aircraft, though he didn’t mind so much. “Yeah. So what do you drive then?” he asked her curiously, wondering what vehicles she had. He didn’t see the need to rattle off his collection unless she asked specifically.

Cira Knight
Cira glanced at Mike for a moment. "I got an extra burger, four total, some drinks, and nachos." The fourth burger was reserved for Mike in case he wanted it. Little did she know how BIG the burgers were going to be! She then glanced back at Kane. "As for my rides, I got a black Toyota Tacoma TRO Sport, and a purple 'n black Mazda Veilside Rx7. I had a Pontiac TransAm before I had those, but...I...don' have it any more." Cira replied, glancing off to the left with out knowing as she temporarily stumbled on her words. Thinking of KARR, she tucked her hands into her black cargo pants pockets uncomfortably. In the last few words, her tone became noticeably more distant, perhaps a bit restrained. "What's this list of cars all about eh?" she asked curiously.

Mike Traceur
Mike nodded at the food list, noting she did actually think to get him something. He had to chuckle though, remembering just how big the burgers were when he was here before. Well, she’ll find out soon enough when they brought the food. As her tone shifted at the mention of the Trans Am, he knew precisely what she was thinking of, or rather who, and he reached over to her, giving her forearm a gentle reassuring squeeze. He wasn’t going to say anything to Kane about KARR, it wasn’t a good idea right now given Mike’s less than successful confrontation with Cira about it earlier. He looked at her when she asked about Kane’s list of cars and smiled a bit. At least the mention of KARR hadn’t dampened her curiosity too much and he gave a sidelong glance at Kane with a smirk.

Kane Aries
Kane also chuckled at the mention of four burgers, wondering just how many of them the small woman was actually going to try and eat by herself. The vehicles she mentioned were nice, the Toyota was a good truck, though he had only seen one Veilside up close enough to work on it. Kane then noted the rather sudden change in her tone as she mentioned the Trans Am. Mike had said she loved and missed that car, and apparently that was not an exaggeration. He felt much the same way about his father’s Mustang.

When she asked about his ‘list of cars’ he merely shrugged. “A truck, two bikes and five cars. Will be six at some point down the road.” Noting her curious expression, he elaborated. “My truck is a dark blue 1950 Chevy 3100 custom. There’s the red n white ‘41 Indian four-cylinder bike you probably saw sittin’ outside, plus my black ‘76 Honda Goldwing GL1000. My cars are a black ‘68 Dodge Charger RT, a silver ‘69 Chevy Camaro SS with shadow flames over the front end, my cherry red ‘73 Pontiac Firebird Trans-Am SD-455 with a black phoenix in the hood, my blood red ‘68 Pontiac GTO, and a blue ‘65 Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe with darker blue racing stripes. My dad’ll be giving me his black ‘65 Ford Mustang Fastback probably before he dies when he’s not racing anymore, though it’s listed in his Will anyway.” he shrugged again. “What can I say, I love my cars. I get along with them better than I do most people.” He knew women tended to appreciate aesthetics a bit more than the mechanics, thus he mentioned their colors and markings this time around.

Any street racer in the area would recognize the blood red GTO and the black Mustang, though he decided not to mention the street races he and his father hit periodically. She didn’t seem like the street racing type, and honestly hoped that if she was, she wasn’t one of those pit wenches that practically threw themselves at the racers. He suppressed a disgusted shudder at the thought of them, though his expression darkened slightly. Every time he ran a race he had to run to try and evade them, or forcefully push them away when they got too close. Just once in his life he wished a real woman would be interested in him, a woman who actually wore clothes and treated herself with respect and personal pride. He knew of far too few such women, one being his mother, the rest were already taken, like his brother’s wife. He took a drink of his beer in an attempt to wash the sour taste that rose up in his mouth then.

He looked over at Cira a moment. “Mike mentioned you had the ’82 Trans Am. I’m sorry it got wrecked, I know what it’s like to love a car like that. I feel that way bout my dad’s Mustang. I used to curl up in the front seat and fall asleep in it when I was a kid. Damn I love that car…” his voice trailed off and he took another drink, his expression thoughtful as he reflected on his memories of that black war horse of a car.

Cira Knight
Cira's eyes widened at the list of Kane vehicles, but her expression grew calm again when Kane mentioned his favorite vehicle. She temporarily leaned into Mike in response to his gesture, knowing what he was thinking in regards to KARR-that vehicle had brought her more memories and a brand new appreciation for vehicles when she was a teen than her other two did recently, and even when she could barely walk, she already had a huge appreciation for them.

"Yeah, I used ta do the same from time to time. Ain't nothin' like the time ya devote to yer vehicles, even if yer not a mechanic like me. I love both my vehicles, but they don't seem ta replace what I did have. And it ain't just the fact that the TransAm is old school, it brought back a lotta memories. Got plenty of pictures of each of them." she shrugged slightly. "Good cars ya got though, all of em, those're great years. I'm not as much of a bike fan, never really made the time ta go get a license. I prefer focusing on my four wheeled vehicles or runnin' on my own two feet. When I was little, I stayed with my Aunt while she worked at her auto shop a lot. Nana loved cars as much as I did. But by the time I hit my teens, she wasn't around anymore, and I was still too young to manage a shop myself an' get certified. Woulda' been hard ta manage durrin' high school anyway. But I loved helpin' her when I was little, even if it was just handin' her employees tools that I could carry, or helpin' organize paperwork. I didn't get paid obviously, but it was a great place, it had that family closeness some kinds'a places got, like homey cafes/bars like these or an old farm one grew up on, untouched by big name corporates. It had a nice, busy body atmosphere from what I remember. Good place, but for some reason I never went back. Er..." Cira scratched her head in thought, wondering what she was going to say next. {Nice one, monkey.}

"So yeah, maintenance coulda' been somethin' I did, but I apparently thought flyin' was more fun. Back on the ground now though." she added with an innocent shrug and smile.

Mike Traceur
Mike sat back and listened to the conversation for a bit. He and Kane already knew each other and this was as good a time as any to let them get to know each other if they were going to be working together at the SSC. Especially if Kane was to be their lead mechanic like Mike was hoping for. At least Kane and Cira seemed to speak the same language regarding cars, which was a plus. He knew Kane had difficulties getting along with most people, so Mike was glad he seemed to get along with Cira, at least so far.

Kane Aries
Kane smiled at that, remembering his days growing up working with his father and older brother in the garage. “I was telling Mike that I was born with a socket wrench in one hand, steering wheel in the other, motor oil in my veins, and weaned on gasoline. Cars are my life, n it sounds like it was the same for you growing up. I usually don’t get along real well with people, but me n cars have an understanding.” He then munched some more of his nachos thoughtfully. “You ever thought of going back to that life?” he asked her honestly.

Cira Knight
"Not really, then again I haven't been in the civilian world for all that long. Barely a year actually." Cira replied, wondering if she should consider the possibility. She wasn't sure if she was going to work at the SSC and FLAG, and what she would do, for that matter. "Haven't thought about it all that much." Luckily since she was still living on her 'allowance', she didn't have to rush herself into finding a new job just yet. She had what she needed, including a small apartment for the time being.

As soon as she trailed off on her response, one of the bartenders came by with a large plate full of four baskets which included the nachos thick with toppings, a few cokes, and some water. No, Cira didn't come for the beer. "Food is here, enjoy." the female bartender said, flashing a smile at the two men, giving Cira an odd look as she literally jumped into the seat to eat. "Oh that smells aweSOME! Thank you!"

Cira went wide eyed at the size of the burgers and all the fries. "Bro, ya better take yer dish double time, in a moment these hands're gonna be like magnets with dis here food!" her hands poised in a manner that looked like they were going to pounce on one of the nearest plates, she grinned an almost malicious grin and snatched one of the burgers promptly. Cira tended to get scary happy with her food, and unless she could walk away with it, it was best not to interrupt her. If she ever had to, she would take one of the baskets with her if at all possible. After taking a couple large bites of the burger, she tried a few of the nachos. {Yeah, I might wanna hit this place again if I ever come back this way...}

Mike Traceur
Mike laughed and snatched up one of the baskets with a burger and fries before she devoured them all. He knew his sister was a ravenous eater when it came to her food, sometimes downright scary. He didn’t need to say much as he started in on his burger, munching happily. He gave Kane a quizzical glance though, wondering if he would be put off by his sister’s eating habits.

Kane Aries
Kane merely chuckled as Cira dove into her food. “Nice to see some women actually have healthy appetites instead of eating like dainty little birds.” he remarked with a smirk. It always annoyed him that so many were so obsessed with their appearance that they virtually starved themselves to stay as rail thin as possible. None of those girls ever interested him since so many of them were superficial or were always throwing their under clothed bodies at any male who would lay them, something Kane found utterly revolting. Cira was down to Earth, seemed sensible, wasn’t afraid to get her hands dirty, had a healthy appetite, and clearly had more respect for herself since she was comfortably and modestly dressed, plus she had a fondness for cars. All pluses in her favor as far as he was concerned. He began to wonder if she was taken, but quickly shook off the thought, figuring she wouldn’t be interested anyway. In his experience, most sensible intelligent women weren’t.

Cira Knight
Cira snickered as she swallowed a bit of nachos before picking at some chicken chunks with cheese via a fork before pointing the shiny object at him. "Got that right, an' the war bird I flew sure as hell wasn't dainty either. I miss ze war piggy..." she whined a little, being semi dramatic as she poked at more chicken and cheese before turning back to the fries and nachos, reaching for a coke with her free hand, not even really looking at the burger she was in the middle of biting while reaching for it. However, it was the truth, she missed flying the A10 Warthog a lot, but not as much as she missed interacting with KARR. "Ain't nothin' like good food, man. Keeps ya real." she added amidst a mouthful of burger, though of course she was more than wary to keep her mouth closed. All though she was ravenous, Cira DID have table manners, and usually could keep her food in her mouth just fine unless she accidentally burst out laughing or was unfortunate enough to choke on something.

Mike Traceur
Mike nodded in agreement to her last statement. “Ain’t that the truth.” he replied with a chuckle. It didn’t take him too long to eat his food and by then she was nearly half way done with her collection of food. Seeing Kane was done with his and sitting back, Mike looked over at Cira. “You think you’ll be alright here while I introduce Kane to our friend outside or were you wanting to go with?” he asked. He knew trying to pry her from her food was risking life and limb, but he figured she’d be okay finishing up and meeting them outside afterwards. It was about time Kane met KI3T anyway.

Kane Aries
Kane regarded Mike curiously at the mention of their friend outside and he began to wonder just who this odd person might be that they would be so up tight as to shun the idea of setting foot in a local neighborhood bar. “I don’t deal with the uppity types who’re too good to sit at a bar n have a drink with an average nobody like me, Mike. I don’t think this little meeting of yours is going to go down so well from where I’m sitting.” he remarked, a slightly suspicious tone to his voice. He was starting to not like the situation, though he thought Mike and Cira were okay people he could get along with. It was the hoity toity stuffed shirts in suits types that bothered him. Kane was beginning to wonder if that was precisely who he was being set up to meet, some business bureaucrat looking down his nose at him. He hated those kinds of people and tried very hard to actively avoid them whenever possible, at any cost.

Cira Knight
"Yeah I would be, buuut, I was kinda hopin' I could go too, I haven't really had a chance to see what he can do either. We can afford to wait a little bit right?" Cira asked, moving onto a second burger. Cira was unaware KI3T really didn't appreciate people eating in him, but Cira expected he wouldn't anyway, so she preferred to finish before they left. "Won't take me too long, but I don't wanna choke either." she said, pausing to reach for the coke before taking a few more nachos.

Mike Traceur
Mike laughed a bit. “When you meet him, you’ll understand why he waits outside. Trust me on this, he’s definitely no ‘stuffed shirt’.” He then looked at Cira. “Don’t worry sis, was just going to let them talk, okay? I promise we’ll wait for you before we do anything spectacular. Deal?” he asked her as he stood up.

Kane Aries
Kane merely shrugged. “I don’t mind waiting. What’s a few more minutes anyway. Besides, she did ask to be included. Kinda rude to just walk off and leave your sister alone in a dive like this, not to mention hazardous to someone’s health.” he remarked casually, staying right where he was for the time being.

Cira Knight
"Yeah, I can take care of myself, just I don't want to miss anything. We're not in a rush. Relax bro, we got time." Cira said between bites. She was eating as efficiently as she could. She was not about to waste any of it, because it was too good to do so. "Oh yes, and for the experience, Kane can have the passenger's seat, I don't mind sitting in the back this round." she said while munching on more nachos. They were heavy with toppings and cheese, thus she wasn't sure what she liked the most. "This is just so good I don't wanna waste anything," she said, pausing to take a napkin to her lips before grabbing more coke.

After chugging down more coke, she paused, feeling some bubbling forming in her stomach. Patting her stomach, she suddenly covered her mouth and let out a growling, heavy belch. Shaking her head, she reached for the second burger, which was already being worked on, along with the fries. "Just made more room, we'll be able to leave soon enough."

Mike Traceur
Mike knew when he was out voted so he sat down, giving Cira a slightly surprised look at the sound that rolled out of her. “You eat like you’re starving and haven’t had food in months, Cira, jeez.” he remarked with a chuckle as he settled back again. “Are you ever not starving to death?” he added jokingly.

Kane Aries
Kane just sat back and waited quietly then, shaking his head a bit. One would think a brother would be a bit more understanding, but then not everyone had a brother like his. Kane saw nothing wrong with Cira’s eating habits, it was actually rather refreshing to see a girl who didn’t care what others thought of her and was proud and strong enough to fend for herself. His gaze shifted inward while he waited, falling silent and reflecting on old memories as the banter between brother and sister continued.

Cira Knight
"I'm like a blackhole, unless I'm sick, it's pretty much guaranteed I'm willin' ta eat basically however much I want. This chicka's got a high metabolism." Cira replied with a snicker, patting her stomach before munching on more fries and nachos. "Hehe gluttony is probably my biggest sin." she added as she took another chug of coca cola. Soon enough, the third burger was gone, and most of the nachos were gone. She made sure she payed up.

Leaning back, Cira stretched. "Okay, wesa good to go!" she said to Mike cheerily.

Mike Traceur
Once Cira was ready to go, Mike got up at that point, “Alright then, let’s go say hi.” he said as he led the other two out. Mike chuckled a bit at Kane’s half curious, half suspicious glance as they left the table and wound their way through the bar and out. Once outside Mike walked over to the black 2008 Mustang GT500KR with twin red scanner lights pacing just above the grill. “Kane, have a look.” he said as he opened the driver side door.

Kane gave the car an appraising look before stepping around to look inside. “Nice. Two things though: 1. I’m not leaving my bike here, and 2. my specialty is what’s under the hood, not in the cab.” he remarked as he looked at Mike.

Mike gestured to the car. “Okay, so I’ll keep watch on your bike while you n Cira go for a short ride. Just, trust me, you’ll enjoy this.” he offered with a smirk and gestured for Cira to get in the other side. As he stepped away from the car, he lowered his voice considerably. “KI3T, it’s your turn to get acquainted with Kane and convince him to join up with us as our new lead mechanic.” he muttered softly as he walked over to Kane’s bike, knowing KI3T could hear him perfectly well through the earpiece.

Kane Aries
Kane gave Mike an odd look, then sat down in the driver’s seat, though he didn’t yet close the door. He looked over the odd dash instruments and the black and red interior. “Well, at least he seems to take care of you.” he remarked softly before reaching for the ignition. “Let’s see how you sound.” he added as he turned the key to start the engine.

KI3T
As soon as Cira stepped in KI3T's passenger seat with a smirk and strapped herself in promptly, KI3T's engine steadily rumbled to life on cue with the turn of the key. He decided to use his female voice for the fun of it. "Welcome aboard the Knight Industries Three Thousand. Please keep your seat belt fastened for the duration of this drive."

The door shut promptly, and auto-locked. KI3T backed up, signaling as he looked out for any traffic on the main road. "I will assume automatic control for the time being." The Mustang's sleek black form glistened in the night, and for now, the windshield appeared to be completely normal and bug free-no HUD's currently active. "I hope you do not have a problem with that."

Shortly after backing up a bit, KI3T turned smoothly, keeping the headlights on their normal setting as he accelerated onto the main road.

Cira Knight
The smirk faded off Cira's lips rather quickly as she glanced towards KI3T's voice box abruptly with a fleeting 'wtf' look on her face before cackling and applauding briefly. Mike had heard him speak like this once before, but never had she. KI2T and TransAm KARR hadn't really experimented with their voices that much from what she could remember, and it had been so long since she had heard KI3T/KI2T anyway.

"Hahaha, nice one KITT, I think ya sound better male. Wasn't expecin' that." Cira had to admit, his voice sounded better shit-loads as a male, but hearing him talk as a female just because he could was most amusing. From what Cira understood, most of the AI's seemed to have a male persona about them, it was hard to hear them as a female and not find it somewhat weird or funny.

Mike Traceur
Upon hearing and seeing what KI3T had just pulled, Mike could only groan and facepalm, shaking his head. “KI3T, I said ‘get acquainted, not scare the hell out of him…” he groaned softly, hoping, praying that Kane would be okay and not freak out, let alone praying that stunt wouldn’t put Kane off to the idea of working for them. “We really need to work on your sense of humor and people skills…” he added with a sigh.

Kane Aries
As the car suddenly began talking in a female voice and apparently assumed control, Kane was, in a word, panicking. “WHAT THE?!?” he yelped, reflexively grabbing the steering wheel as the car took off. His near panic turned more towards irritation as he heard Cira laughing and he gave her a sour look. “Alright, what the fuck?” he asked indignantly. “Ha ha, funny joke. You can stop with the funny business with the remote controls! I’d rather not die of a heart attack inside a car, especially while it’s moving! I have a thing about living you know, I’ve gotten rather attached to it…” he said a bit darkly. Being the butt of someone’s twisted joke was not his idea of fun, nor was it something he pulled on others generally. He calmed himself fairly quickly though, forcing his mind to shift gears a bit and looked at the car’s dash. “If I’m going to be behind the wheel of a car, I’d rather be the one driving if you don’t mind. Dying in a wreck because someone with the remote don’t know how to drive is not my idea of a good time.” he told the car, then shook his head. “Listen to me, talking like it’ll actually hold a conversation.” he added incredulously and shook his head again.

KI3T
KI3T wasn't too surprised with Kane's reaction, but he was hoping this wouldn't sway him from agreeing to work with them. So far, his behavioral patterns were meeting his standards, and that was a plus. His voice was now his normal male voice, one that was completely calm, even, and practically emotionless, though in this particular response, KI3T did seem to sound slightly light-hearted in nature, but that was only if one listened closely. "Switching to manual control. Actually, I can hold a conversation quite well if I do say so myself. Mike, People skills is a somewhat... perceptive concept, you should know that already. And Cira, I am probably being quite obvious stating this, but I think your laughter is making Mr. Aries uncomfortable."

KITT proceeded to move normally, now under Kane's control. "My apologies for startling you, Mr. Aries."

Cira Knight
Cira had to cover her mouth and stifle her giggle at Kane's reaction. He was a bit scary when he was angry/frustrated/irritated. Cira tended to just be down right loud when she was angry. "Right, I'm probably not helpin' the sitch any, my bad. I just wasn't expectin' the femme voice 'n all." She glanced at Kane. "I'm tellin' ya man, ya get used to it after a while, ain't never seen anythin' more awesome than KI3T. As I'm sure you can already tell, this car does have an attitude of his own, and he tends ta not hold it back." she said, patting the dash board briefly, which KI3T didn't mind in the least. He didn't mind that kind of affection from those at FLAG-Cira being related to Mike was an exception, and KI3T got along just fine with Cira so far, so he had no objections to little gestures like that.

Kane Aries
Once Kane had control of where the car was going he seemed to relax significantly as he let out a sigh. “Apparently…” he answered, his tone still a bit dark. He looked at the dash and the blue glowing orb with the red light that seemed to be looking at him. “Okay, that’s a bit unnerving. Reminds me of Hal from 2001.” He returned his attention to the road for a moment until he got to some nearby back roads with less traffic. “So it, he, the car is actually alive?” he asked Cira, giving her an oddly curious look. “I mean, I’ve had cars do odd things on occasion and feel like there’s a soul in them but, this is waaay over the top, even for me.” he admitted.

What he didn’t tell her was the other thing he was feeling now that the shock and panic were wearing off and he was able to drive the car around under his control: a slight giddiness that was rising up in him. As a child he used to daydream that his father’s car could talk to him and even transform into a robot, all because of a cartoon he greatly enjoyed that featured alien robots that disguised themselves as cars and trucks. One of his deepest and most heart felt wishes as a child was for those characters to be real. He grew up and learned that such things were impossible, or were they? He looked back at the dash then and began to wonder what else the car could do besides talk and drive itself.

Cira Knight
"Technically, yes. He thinks just as we do, and theoretically feels as well. But we are unsure as to what extent." Cira said, leaning back in her seat for a moment and folding her arms. She wondered if KI3T would have to say anything on that, or if he was going to be mostly quiet from here on out. She didn't know KI3T like she had KI2T. Both seemed to have similar traits and quirks in certain areas, but she was still trying to figure out what those traits and quirks were exactly.

Given how Kane's body language was responding so far, he was tense and nervous, but as she saw him relax a little more, she began to sense some curiosity towards KI3T, which was a very good thing for her and KI3T.

Kane Aries
Kane nodded at that, not quite sure what to make of it but accepting it regardless. “Okay, so what else can… Kitt…” he looked at the dash then back to her. “…do?” He looked at KI3T’s dash sternly. “And don’t suddenly start demonstrating everything on me, please!” he added to KI3T, trying to avoid something completely hair-brained like the car growing legs or suddenly ejecting its passengers. “I’d prefer to survive the night in one piece if you don’t mind. If I want to see something I’ll ask. Just, warn me first, okay?” he added in a bit less tense tone. It was bad enough that the car started driving itself without warning and he was a little worried at what other bizarre things it… he… could do.

KI3T
KITT generated a chuckle as they moved into the back roads, already debating about what he should show Kane first. A brief grappling hook demonstration, weapons, ski mode, turbo boost, or perhaps a taste of how wonderfully quick his nanomachines worked to keep his 'hide' safe? "Of course, Mr. Aries." Or, there was always the simple stuff, like showing him the HUD's, satellite surveillance, etc. KITT figured he should bring up the more simple things first.

"And Trust me, I am nothing like Hal...I am certain that during the duration of this drive, you will quickly understand why. I can do a wide range of things, and have many features. I have internet connectivity, satellite surveillance, hacking mechanisms, micro jamming, frequency surveillance, built in cameras, lasers. Other more unique features include shape shifting, and nano-skin pigmentation alterations. I have built in Heads Up Displays which allows Mike to speak with others freely while driving, and access other sources of information where needed. Of course, I have weaponry built into me, but that can only be accessed in something called my 'Attack Mode'. Perhaps you would like to see a Heads Up Display demonstration first, or perhaps see my nanoskin in action?" KITT then fell quiet, waiting for Kane's response. He failed to mention that he could speak in just about any language, but he figured Kane would realize this sooner or later.

Kane Aries
Kane’s eyebrows shot straight up at the list of capabilities KI3T apparently had. “Wait, did you just say shape shifting and… weapons?” he asked, the tone in his voice slightly higher than normal. He glanced at Cira and then looked back at the blue orb on the dash. “You’re not a sentient alien robot disguised as an ‘08 Mustang GT500KR, are you?” he asked then, his voice low and hoping he didn’t sound like he was crazy, though he probably did anyway.

KI3T
"No, I am not a transformer, but yes, I do have weaponry. A fair bit of it actually." KI3T knew it was damn obvious Kane was quite interested now, and that was just what he wanted. It made KI3T smirk a little inwardly. "Would you like to see a weapons demonstration first then?"

Cira Knight
Cira stifled another giggle. "Oh but how I wish ya were KITT, that would make you thrice as awesome! I could just imagine ya bein' like one of those Transformers. Man would that be spectacular!" Cira said, certain that after Kane's question/comment about the alien robot in disguise that that is what he was referring to, and apparently KITT knew it too. Cira couldn't help but wonder if KITT ever wished he were a Cybertronian, and how much he had seen of the original series and the movies. They were all very interesting indeed, Cira had loved watching the show when she was younger.

Kane Aries
Kane smirked at KI3T’s first reply. “Okay, just checking.” he responded, but on hearing KI3T’s offer of a weapons demo, he stiffened a bit. “Uh, no, that’s okay, no need to blow up the neighbors.” he replied with a smirk. That smirk turned into a laugh at Cira’s response though and he had to offer a high five. “I hear that!” he answered. So it was a kids cartoon; it was a damned cool cartoon! “Autobots, Transform and roll out!” he called, dropping his voice a bit in imitation of the good guy’s leader.

KI3T
"Well, at least I can transform into other vehicles. It's better than nothing I suppose. I have a sub marine mode too, and I can speak in practically any language." KITT replied as they drove on at whatever speed Kane indicated.

KITT willingly changed his current paint job into a pearly green and blue color that seemed to sparkle like the moonlight itself. He made sure there were no vehicles around for them to catch the shift. "The nanoskin is also self replicating, meaning I can protect myself from impacts and recover in rapid speed with little effort unless I deal with repetitive impacts." KITT paused for a moment, debating on how he could show off a bit more subtly, but was finding only so many ways to do so. "Would you like to see one of my common transformation sequences?" He could easily show him how the HUD worked, and a preview of his Satellite Surveillance mode, which often came in handy, but for now, he'd see how he (and Cira) felt about a transformation.

Cira Knight
"Booya! Man I miss that series." Cira returned the high five with a grin. "Ya know, I heard about the transformations, but I dunno what ya got, I'd personally love ta see it, and that sub marine mode, that sounds hella awesome! I don't recall the Knight Industries Two Thousand bein' able to scuba dive, but I did hear of one mission where he could drive on the water...Not ta mention, he could never shape shift either!"

Kane Aries
Kane chuckled a bit and looked over at KI3T’s dash. “I think someone is bragging.” He remarked, then his eyes widened for a moment as the car’s exterior literally seemed to melt into a new color. “Okay, that was cool!” he stated rather definitively. He was really starting to like this car, and Cira seemed more and more like a kindred spirit, at least in part. “Okay, ummm… Transforming, how about into a ’68 Goat… er… 1968 Pontiac GTO.” He then looked at Cira. “You pick the paint job.” he offered her.

Cira Knight
KITT remained quiet for a moment longer, giving Cira a chance to respond, but she didn't need long. "Light purple," she said with an impish grin. Cira wasn't sure of what limits had KITT to transform...yet, anyway, but this would be good to see. "Nice choice, a 1968 Dodge Charger or the latest Dodge Challenger would be cool ta see too! God, there're so many I could think of, but I gotta say KITT, yer cool no matter what form yer in." she added, the grin fading into a simple calm look on her face.

KI3T
"I do have limits with my transformations, but I can store up to a certain amount of forms in my data base. Three total, not including my common off-road form. Some sequences and have been used regularly, while others have not. In this case, I happen to have the data for this one." KITT replied promptly, and then paused for a second or two before continuing in a habitual 'command relay'. The HUD would automatically flicker to life for a moment as the specs and transformation sequence for the 1968 Pontiac GTO appeared on the windshield as a holographic image.

Most of the interior would feel like it didn't move much, but it did indeed feel to shrink and stretch out some. "Transformation complete." As soon as the transformation was complete, the nanoskin shimmered across the form from front to back, and KITT became a light purple 1968 Pontiac GTO.

Kane Aries
“Whoa! Okay, that was surreal!” Kane remarked with a slight chuckle as the car seemed to slightly warp around them and the exterior completely changed. “You have got to be the most complicated car to work on.” Kane observed, guessing the transformations and weapons alone were a nightmare to engineer, let alone repair. “Damned cool, but complicated as hell.” Kane had to chuckle then, getting a certain itch. “Hey, mind if I get a little crazy for a minute? Just want to see if you handle as well as my own Goat.” He asked, wanting to see just how good this car really was. “Don’t worry, I’ve raced mine and I’m a trained stunt driver, I know what normal cars are capable of. I’d just like to push the edge a bit, see how good you really are.” He offered. He figured if KI3T really wanted to show off his capabilities in the hands of a truly competent driver, now was the perfect opportunity.

KI3T
"I don't mind at all. You've still got control." KITT replied simply, and then after a short pause, decided he may as well include Cira in on the fun. "Perhaps on our way back, I ought to give Cira the chance to drive, since she may be working at FLAG too. When you're satisfied with your time behind the wheel, that is." He knew Mike was still waiting back at the bar, but they may as well make their time worth it out here, and he wanted to impress Cira too. He did not always like seeing a bored passenger, after all.

Kane Aries
Kane chuckled at that, grinning like a Cheshire cat as he gripped the steering wheel. “Tighten your seat belt, chicka.” he warned and quite literally dropped the hammer, letting the engine open up to full as they raced down the street. These were streets he knew well and easily navigated the turns, letting the car drift a bit on the tighter corners as he sped down the winding back roads before doing a complete one-eighty at a dead end street, coming to rest with both passenger side tires a mere 4 inches from the curb facing back the way they had come. He certainly knew how to make a car move like a hunting cat, that was for certain. He sat back then, a little bit giddy from the rush as he looked over at Cira, his eyes shining from the adrenalin. “Okay, your turn.” he said and quickly hopped out, taking a few running steps around the door and half slid half vaulted across the hood to open the door and get in on the passenger side once Cira had slipped over to the driver’s seat.

KI3T/Cira Knight
KI3T would have grinned were he a human, Kane was a good driver, and Cira was having fun. She either had a big grin on her face as he took each turn, or she even yelled in excitement on occasion. He was glad they were enjoying the ride. Yet, he still hadn't shown them ski mode or Turbo Boost. He debated on surprising them, but then he remembered how Kane reacted to him simply speaking. Perhaps if he suggested the moves to Cira, Kane would be more open to trying them.

"You are QUITE a good driver, Kane." Cira started driving, turning to the left down one of the alley's Kane had taken on the way back. He began to feel the changes in the gears, letting her keep control for now. "Perhaps it is time I demonstrate what I can really do, if you and Cira are up for it."

"Well, I know that I am, go for it KI3T." Cira gripped the steering wheel briefly, the grin returning to her face. Her heart was already racing from the previous drive, she was just as excited to see what would happen next. "Hm...what are ya other common forms?"

"Other than the F150 4x4 mode, I have a 2010 Dodge Challenger and an Acura NSX"

It didn't take long for Cira to choose which one she wanted, but both were nice choices. "Oooh, can we try the Acura NSX? I hear those are fairly decent drift cars! Though I still like my Mazda." Cira replied as she turned the old Pontiac GTO form around a tight corner, sliding a bit around the turn with the nose pointed almost directly into it. "Very well, transforming into the Acura NSX." There was a few second pause as KI3T transformed, and then as the HUD changed the imagery and animations to the specs of the new transformation sequence, KITT spoke once again once the transformation was complete: "Transformation complete."

Cira giggled gleefully with excitement and gunned KITT down an open stretch as she left the alleyway, on another dusty off road now. KITT remained purple for now, and he looked pretty good in the color with the type of vehicle he transformed into. "Perhaps, if Kane is ready, you two would like to see my Attack Mode, and what it is capable of?"

The response from Cira: "Oh hell yeah, dude!"

Kane Aries
Kane had to laugh at Cira’s exuberance. Clearly she loved the speed, the adrenalin rush, the surge that runs through a person with the roar of a finely tuned engine. “That is still wild!” he said in response to the transformation. Kane was not quite as vocal as Cira, but it was clear he was enjoying the ride. She was a fairly decent driver as well and could handle the car well, something he could not say for most women. With the way she drove, he began to wonder if she had ever tried her hand at street racing. Pondering the thought, he decided to save it for later when they weren’t careening around the streets like mad the way they were now. Then KI3T mentioned an attack mode and Kane’s eyebrows went up. “Attack Mode?” he asked. “Do I even want to know?” he added and looked over at Cira.

KI3T/Cira Knight
Cira glanced over at Kane before cutting to the right to make another semi-drifting turn, the tires squealing as she hit the brakes only enough to keep the vehicle from rolling. "I heard'a it, but haven't seen it in action yet! Let's find out! Let's try the turbo boost!"

KITT generated a chuckle, and the HUD displaying the words "Attack mode" lit up on a transparent red screen which had a built in targeting system, but it quickly flickered away as a few minor transformations were made as silver hood scoops appeared in the middle of the hood. "Turbo-boost activated."

Immediately, Kane would hear the power core near the engine begin to mix nitrous oxide and other chemicals to create a very high octane which when ignited, had a similar effect to a typical burst provided by NOS, only on a much more powerful scale. It seemed as though for a fleeting moment, a nuclear reaction of some sort must have taken place. KITT surged forward far more powerfully than when Cira first hit the pedal to the floor. The acceleration was intimidating and exhilarating, and Cira cackled and then let out a shout of joy as sped down the off road like a purple rocket. "WOOHOO!" She even let go of her hands for a bit since KITT was so streamlined and stable for a few moments. A small bump in the street popped up and KITT briefly got airborne as a result.

Kane Aries
“Turbo Boost?” Kane asked and was promptly introduced to its results as KI3T rocketed forward. “Hoshit!” he yelped, though his surprise turned into giddy laughter as they sped down the road. He had never seen cars go this fast before and the sensation was literally like flying. Kane began to wonder if this was what fighter pilots felt like all the time up in the air and the thought made him glance over at Cira, remembering her comment at being a pilot. He began to envy her a bit for the exhilarating experiences she’s had, but he was not the military type and thus didn’t miss the life in the slightest. He did have a great appreciation for those who could live that life, those who were strong enough to survive it intact and not broken, and Cira was apparently one of the strong ones. His thoughts began to drift and he forced them away irritably. Such notions were not even remotely possible and he knew it, forcing himself to deny them outright. In his mind, there was no point in entertaining such thoughts when he knew they were impossible.

KI3T/Cira Knight
KI3T felt himself turn sharply to the left as they peeled off an exit, burning some rubber. A second turn from the small exit came up sharply and Cira turned sharply to the right a little too late, causing the turn to be extra sharp, nearly causing them to spin out and roll over while they were still decelerating rapidly from the exit. They were going near 100 mph still as they approached the second turn, and Cira wasn't used to driving this fast!

"Eeep!" Cira panicked slightly, giggling as she felt Kane's side of the vehicle begin to lift up. Apparently loving all the buttons, she then decided to make the most out of this little slip up and activated Turbo-boost again. "Try a barrel roll!" But then, there was a boost energy gathered from the momentum, as KITT and Cira struggled to keep him somewhat inline with the turn, Cira smirked a little and pressed the turbo boost button just seconds after they nearly rolled out of the turn. It took a few seconds for KI3T to power up again. Again came that powerful ionic roar, and the AI vehicle taking the form of a purple Acura RSX did a low to the ground barrel roll as the ground sloped down just a bit again, yielding just a little extra lift and momentum, which was all vectored downwards from the AI vehicle. "Cira!" KITT shouted her name in surprise as he barrel rolled away from the corner.

This action of course, nearly made KITT scream like he did way back when with Mike when they jumped into a brief barrel roll over the highway, but managed to just shout her name this time-it seemed Cira had the same kind of bravery, recklessness, or whatever it was as Mike did, and KITT figured Kane would behave somewhat similar if he was more comfortable with his abilities. No, KITT wasn't scared now, now he more often enjoyed these kinds of maneuvers, because it put his forms to the test. It was the simple fact that even he had trouble predicting when they would come when he wasn't the one doing the driving.

It was easy for KITT to notice just how low to the ground they were when they rolled a couple times in mid air. They were suspended barely a few feet even with a slight slope in the ground. That was the only thing about this that really made KITT nervous. KITTs left set of tires happened to hit the ground first with a thump, and the AI vehicle demonstrated Ski Mode to keep himself stable a little longer-where as if this happened in a normal vehicle, the vehicle might topple over onto its back even if its momentum had slowed. "That was...a little too close, Cira." KITT chided warningly, yet the energetic female giggled. "I know KITT, I'm sorry, I underestimated the speed. Sorry I startled ya. I won't do that again due to the risk. I don't want ta abuse yer indestructibleness since ya have the replicating nanomachines 'n all."

Cira turned KITT around and accelerated at a much slower pace this time. She glanced at Kane with a grin for a moment before preparing for the turns. "Here I miss the A10 Warthogs," Cira laughed, turning around and heading back the way they'd come. "But DAMN! That was aweSOME!" she said enthusiastically. Cira knew her driving wouldn't have had the same skill level as Kane's, but her 'slight craziness' made up for it. She was not an adrenaline addict, she got enough fun and discipline from flying, but when she had an opportunity to get a rush or just have some fun even if there was danger in the premise, by golly, she'd take it!

Kane Aries
Kane reflexively braced himself as they came around the turn and suppressed a yelp as they literally rolled over in mid air. When he did finally breathe again he looked at Cira. “You are a crazy woman, you know that?” he said with a laugh. He had done a few crazy stunts himself and damn near gotten himself killed more than once. He enjoyed the rush though he wasn’t really addicted to it; to him it was just fun. Normally he was a careful driver, though he did prefer going a bit faster than the rest on the road, and he was careful not to be too reckless with other cars around. In a street race however, that was a different story entirely, that was where he could really cut loose, something he and his father shared. With her apparent love of speed, he started to wonder if she had ever been to a street race let alone been in one. It seemed to him like something she might enjoy as much as he did; something he’d have to talk to her about later. He chuckled to himself as they headed back, he had to admit, even with the wild barrel roll, it was incredibly fun. He looked at the dash thoughtfully a moment, then decided to ask a different question that had come to him. “Hey KI3T, when we get back, mind if I have a look under the hood? If I’m gonna be working on your maintenance I need to know what kind of work I’m looking at.” The idea seemed reasonable to him, and it was only polite to ask first since KI3T was actually intelligent; not that he didn’t treat all cars with such consideration, it was just more appropriate in this case.

KI3T/Cira Knight
"Yeah, I'm the good kind'a crazy!" Cira replied with a grin as she drove them back towards the bar. She fell quiet for a while to let KI3T continue talking with Kane. "I do not mind at all. We ought to pull off to a fairly secluded area that way we don't risk distracting other drivers."

At hearing this, Cira gently peeled off to the right side of the road before merging back onto the main road a block or two off, and steadily brought them to a stop. With a click, KITT unlocked the hood for Kane.

Kane Aries
Kane got out and stepped around to KI3T’s front, lifting the hood to get a look at his engine. Once he started looking he let out a low whistle of appreciation and began running his hands over the engine, gently feeling connections and components. “Damn…” he muttered softly. “I know it may sound a bit morbid to you, KI3T, but I am definitely itching to get into this.” he said, a touch of childlike awe in his voice. “Don’t worry, I work clean and careful, always have. One of my biggest loves is cars, cleaning them up, fixing them, restoring and rebuilding them. I can’t explain how it feels to take something apart, fix it up, put it all back together and hear it running so smoothly.” He murmured softly as he explored the engine with his hands. “Just something soothing about cars, the sound of the engine…” He smiled almost shyly, letting out a soft chuckle and stepped back, looking at KI3T’s engine appreciatively.

KI3T
KITT was actually a bit marveled by Kane's touch. He hadn't felt a mechanic's touch such as this in a while. He was used to the robotic-intelligent arms the repair bay had, or maybe Sarah and Mike would help repair him on occasion. This touch was...far different in a gentle manner which he could barely describe, and he didn't mind it. He knew that this was the mechanic's way (or one of them) of getting acquainted with a new vehicle, especially if they knew they were going to be working on the engine a lot. "Somewhat, Mr.Aries, but I do not mind, I generally welcome the hands of a mechanic--that is if they know what they are doing. It has been a while since I have dealt with multiple human mechanics working on my components. I do not mind such a change. And I must say, I think you will do well with the job despite the fact that you would be dealing with something as complex as myself."

Kane Aries
Kane chuckled lightly and nodded. “Well, I hope I prove worthy of your trust in me KI3T. I’ve learned a lot about working on all kinds of different cars, even completely rebuilt my own cars by hand.” He ran a hand along the forward portion of the engine and smiled a bit. “You’ve got a beautiful engine, KI3T.” he said before pulling the hood down and shut again. He then rested his hands on the hood for a moment, then he crouched down a bit to look at the pacing red scanners. “And by the way, you can call me Kane. My dad is Mr. Aries.” he offered with a smirk. When it came to cars, he preferred things to be more personable and informal, especially since he saw them as less like machines and more like people, whether they were AI vehicles or not.

KI3T
KI3T focused on Kane 'eye level' via his scanners. A gesture of this kind was common between him and Mike, and he liked that. He didn't know Cira well enough yet, but he presumed she would apply these gestures similarly after a while when he was around her. Humans weren't always so awful with their first impressions, that was for sure. "Very well, I will remember that, Kane." He replied, locking his hood again now that Kane was finished. Of course, a being automatically understood Kane's enthusiasm regarding vehicles, which was a plus.

Kane Aries
Kane smiled at KI3T and decided to rest on one knee in front of him for a moment. “Hey, does anyone ever just sit and talk with you about things? Like random things just to talk, like friends would do? Would seem odd to most to be talking to a car, but it’s something I’ve done since I was a kid. Never had one actually talk back to me before though; it’s nice to actually have a conversation for once, get some feedback from the car about how they’re feeling, if something’s too loose, if something needs worked on. I’m sure you like actually talking to people instead of always having to pretend to be ‘just another dumb car’ sitting there. Must get tedious and annoying dealing with ignorant jerks all the time, or being used for whatever.” he remarked thoughtfully. Holding an intelligent conversation with someone who would actually understand and be able to follow his rather odd thoughts would certainly be a change for the better in Kane’s book.

KI3T
"The four I work with regularly sometimes do. Mike, Sarah, Billy, and Zoe. The latter two visit me a lot in down time. They will sometimes sit in my seats when Mike isn't around. Otherwise, not many people do. Then again, I avoid outside contact since we need to keep our reputation low key. But no, I do not talk to humans as much as humans will generally talk with people they're close to. Talk is rather minimal. I have fun with it when I do, though. I tend to learn a lot from each experience, even if it isn't talk about my maintenance." KITT replied evenly. He hoped he would get a chance to talk to Mike's sister more, she seemed fun to talk to, as well as Kane, should he really end up working for them. Cira remained quiet, giving the two a chance to talk. She was comfortable where she was, and it was obvious by how she was sitting: one leg crossed over the other with her hands laced behind her head.

Mike Traceur
<“Hey! You guys coming back anytime soon? It’s getting a bit late out here and I swear there’s crazy people out now.”> Mike interjected over the coms to KI3T, not sure if the AI would relay the message directly or merely paraphrase to Cira and Kane.

Kane Aries
Kane nodded with a slight chuckle and let his hand rest on KI3T’s bumper lightly. “Well, at least those four do. I think I would get annoyed at people treating me like furniture.” he offered in a light hearted tone. He then looked at KI3T thoughtfully a moment. “Knowing what you know of me, and you probably know a lot; if you had to chose, would you want me to work with you and Mike n them? Would you want me working under your hood taking care of you n your maintenance needs?” he asked. It was only fair after all, if a human could chose their doctors, then why couldn’t KI3T chose his mechanics? Made perfect sense to Kane after all.

KI3T
<"Do not worry, Michael, we'll be arriving in about ten more minutes."> KITT assured Mike before replying to Kane. "Granted, Mike and I have not interviewed many other mechanics, but yes, I would definitely like to see you be our mechanic." he said just as calmly, opening the passenger's door.

Cira Knight
Cira listened to them patiently, content to be right where she was. She wasn't in a hurry for anything, just glad to spend time with a really awesome AI vehicle, even if it wasn't KARR. She rested a left wrist on his steering wheel casually, having dropped her arms again. "Hey Aries, you wanna drive? Just checkin' cause I'm cool with driving back if you don't wanna."

Mike Traceur
Mike nodded to himself as he stood there leaning on the bike. <“Alright buddy. Hey, I was wondering; what do you think of Kane? Think he’ll be alright at the SSC?”> he asked KI3T. He was curious about what KI3T thought of anyone they were recruiting to work with them at FLAG and KR&D, especially anyone who ended up working directly with KI3T and Interceptor.

Kane Aries
Kane smiled and gave KI3T’s bumper a light pat before standing up again. He looked over at Cira and considered her offer to let him drive again. “Sure, I don’t mind driving.” he said and walked around to KI3T’s driver’s side door. He ran his hand over the door handle, making more a gesture of asking permission than simply pulling open the door. With KI3T being intelligent, it was only polite to ask after all. “And by the way, you can call me Kane. Feels odd being called by my last name.” he said with a smirk. He was not used to being called by his surname, and people only ever referred to his father as Mr. Aries, so it felt awkward to Kane to hear the moniker applied to him instead.

KI3T
Noting the gesture, KITT promptly opened the door. Cira climbed back over to the passenger's seat, apparently feeling like not getting out again. <"I like him, Michael. I wouldn't mind him being on our team at all. He seems very aware of his role and vehicular needs. I'm quite sure he could handle maintaining engines like mine."> KITT then shut the door once Kane was secured, and rolled forward as soon as Kane should command it.

Cira Knight
"Sorry, it's an old habit, I'll try ta remember that should ya join us." Cira replied as she crawled back over to the passenger's seat. Promptly strapping herself back in, she allowed herself to try and get comfy while they barely started rolling, and this was done by wriggling just a bit.

Mike Traceur
Mike chuckled at KI3T’s reply. Apparently Kane had made an impression on the AI. Kane was nothing if not a force to be reckoned with, and easily made some kind of impression on those he met; though it was usually not the good kind, it was at least a memorable one. He waited quietly for them to return, hoping Kane had decided to accept their offer.

Kane Aries
Kane drove them back to the bar and glanced over at Mike standing by his bike. He then looked at Cira. “He’s really your brother?” he asked curiously. They had to be adoptive considering they looked nothing alike. “Never mentioned having a sister, though he did mention a girl named Sarah he married… I think…” he shrugged and climbed out of KI3T. He nodded at Mike and lightly ran a hand along the edge of KI3T’s roof absently, an apparently habitual gesture he used with cars, especially ones he liked. He was tactile and sound oriented, especially when it came to cars.

KI3T
KITT was unsure of what to make of the gesture, but it didn't bother him, to say the least. Mike and the others didn't really use such gestures save for a pat on the hood. On a rare occasion Mike had actually kissed KITT out of severe gratitude, but the situation spoke for itself. The memory made KITT chuckle silently-he loved his shape shifting ability, and in times like those it sure was handy. Kane's mentioning of Cira's relation to Mike also brought him to wonder the same thing, Mike had said very little about her, but he did have files, and recalled a few times where he might have. The Mustang remained quiet.

Cira Knight
Cira glanced over at Kane with a brief smile before glancing back at the road. "He's just my adoptive bro. It's only reason why I'm with them here and now after retiring. Dad's old boss Devon wanted him to adopt me after he found out the killing was KARR's doing. Said he wasn't gonna be around to see whoever he adopted grew up, so he gave Dad the job. I miss that guy, he was a cool dude." she replied, falling quiet again as she habitually crossed her arms in a relaxed manner.

Mike Traceur
Mike walked over to them casually, a smile on his face. “So, think you’d want to join up with us?” he asked. KI3T liked him and Mike got on with him fine. He figured bringing Kane in would give the guy something he could be part of that was more than just working on cars. “You’d be helping with something worth while. What we do, we go after the guys the law can’t touch, protect those who can’t defend themselves against criminals who take from others and get away with it. Sound like something you’d want to be a part of?” his tone was genuine and a bit hopeful; they needed more people, thus the recruiting drive to bring in those best suited to such a job.

Kane Aries
Kane gave Cira an odd look. “KARR?” he asked curiously, wondering at the reference. He didn’t have time to ask for further clarification as Mike approached the trio. He listened to Mike’s offer a moment, thinking seriously about what such a job would mean. It certainly sounded good to him, to be part of something as important as that. “It sounds like a good thing what you do. If it really does help put the jackasses away that deserve it, I’m in.” he said simply. He had seen too many people get away with victimizing others and had stood in defense of some of those victims to the point of nearly landing himself in jail on several occasions, as well as trying to protect himself from those who went after him directly. He had scars to show for it, though he didn’t much care about them as long as something good came from it in the end. He looked at KI3T with a light smile. “KI3T seems to like me at least.” he offered with a slight chuckle.

Cira Knight/KI3T
KITT waited patiently while Mike and Kane talked. "I'll tell ya later," Cira said to Kane with a mutter. KITT knew he wouldn't have to bother explaining, even though he knew first hand who Cira was talking about as well, as did Mike. "It would indeed be nice to have you aboard the team, Kane." KITT added.

Mike Traceur
Mike glanced at Cira a moment, then looked to Kane with a smile, offering his hand in welcome. “Great, it’s official then. You can come back to the SSC with us and get settled in tonight if you like, take care whatever you need to do and whatnot. You can meet some of the others too. There aren’t very many of us right now, but we’re hoping to expand our ranks a bit as we go along.” he offered. With Kane’s passion for cars and his attitude towards helping people, he figured Kane would fit right in, even if the transition would be a bit rough at first. Hopefully things would go smoothly for Kane, well… more so than they had for Mike at least when he first joined up.

Kane Aries
Kane accepted the handshake and then turned to KI3T, running a hand along the curvature of his front fender lightly a moment. “Looks like we get to work together.” he said softly, then looked back at Mike. “Sure, I can do that. Don’t have to do anything with work for a couple days since it’s my weekend off.” Kane was anxious to get right down to work, learning what he needed to do and what was expected of him so he could settle straight into his job right away. He hated long transition times, often finding it annoying and stifling rather than relaxing or motivating. If he wanted to relax, he’d get into a street race or bury himself under the hood of a car.

Cira Knight
"Sweet! Welcome to the club, friend!" Cira said cheerfully as she rolled down the passenger's window so they could hear her. {"Recruit numba' one, a success!"} Cira would have totally high-fived KITT if he had a human form.

KI3T
KITT was as pleased as Cira was about Kane deciding to join. Yes, he definitely had the kind of mechanic's touch he had been hoping for. Additionally, it seemed like Kane would make a great friend, and KITT was always willing to try to make new friends with those that came to the SSC. "Indeed, Kane. I hope you find your time employed with FLAG worth it." he said, his emotionless tone a mix of gentleness and sincerity.

Mike Traceur
Mike grinned at that, glad everyone was in agreement. {“Well, that was pretty painless.”} he thought as he stepped around to KI3T’s drivers side door. “Alright then, go grab your bike and we’ll head over there.” He told Kane and got into KI3T’s drivers seat, closing the door. He felt as relieved as he was happy, glad to have found a good mechanic that KI3T would be able to get along with. As generally easy going as KI3T usually was, he still worried about how the AI got along with other people. His only experiences were with those who worked at the SSC, and some like Torres had betrayed him. Yet unlike KARR, KI3T did not turn on them, instead he turned to the close bonds of friendship he had forged with Mike, Sara, Billy, and Zoe, looking to them for support and friendship after Mike had rescued and reactivated KI3T. All he wanted was to make sure that whoever worked for them at the SSC, KI3T would be comfortable with them, and if KI3T was comfortable, then Mike would be too, and so would Sara.

As he thought of her, he smiled and activated the coms. =“Hey Sara? We got him. Kane Aries is joining us, and KI3T likes him. Looks like we got ourselves a lead mechanic.”= he told his wife with a grin.

Kane Aries
Kane smiled and with a nod to Mike and a light pat on KI3T’s fender, he headed for his bike, staring it up and readying himself to follow the black Cobra to their base, this SSC Mike had mentioned. He only hoped that the rest of those who worked there would be so accepting of him and his eccentricities as he followed along behind the black AI vehicle.

Sarah Graiman
Sarah had been in her office listening to music and doing something she despised; paperwork, when her hubbie's voice had filtered through. A smile came over Sarah's face, so they had a Lead Mechanic and KI3T liked him, which was certainly a plus for all of them! ="Wonderful! From everything I've learned about him, I know we can count on him. Are you heading back to the SSC or have you decided yet?"= Sarah asked.

Mike Traceur
=“We’re heading back now, Kane’s following on his motorcycle. We’ll be there soon.”= he promised, a look of deep affection on his face as he gazed at her image. Mike had always loved Sarah and had asked her to marry him once before only to be irrevocably separated from her against his will, then half his memory erased. After finally finding his way home with KI3T’s help, thanks to Charles Graiman’s emergency protocols he had given the AI when Graiman had been attacked in his home, Mike was with Sarah again, the past forgiven, the truth of his family finally revealed to him, and he was finally able to marry Sarah at last. Despite the trials they still suffered, Mike was happy. Now all they had to do was find the lost AI that had been stolen from them and their family would be whole again. Hopefully they would be able to put KARR down once and for all in the process, eliminating that thread to all their lives.

Sarah Graiman
="Well stay safe okay? KI3T, look after him."= Sarah replied with a grin, knowing full well that Mike could look after himself. ="I love you."= Sarah said a few moments later. She continued to look at Mike for a few more seconds before she killed the video feed.

Mike Traceur
“I love you too, Sarah.” he murmured softly just before the video feed cut out. He then glanced at KI3T’s AI globe and looked away a bit sheepishly, knowing KI3T could sense what Mike was feeling and hoping the AI would not decide to comment on it. In that moment all Mike could think of was getting back to the SSC and to Sarah, though he knew their time alone would have to wait until Kane was properly introduced and settled, at least he would be with her, then they could go and spend the rest of the evening together, leaving Billy, Zoe, Cira, and KI3T to help Kane get acquainted with the SSC and the other AI’s there, including Alice and the diagnostic robots, Katie and Lisa.

Cira Knight
Cira smiled softly for a moment, though she felt a pang of jealousy in her chest as she crossed her arms behind her head for a moment and crossed her legs. "I'm glad he decided ta join, I think you guys could use a good mechanic." she commented with a brief yawn. She was polite enough she wasn't going to tease Mike about Sarah. Really, they were cute together. Cira just tried not to think about the past as she gazed towards the window once they started driving...

KI3T
KITT didn't say much the remainder of the trip, he noticed the initial differences between Cira and Mike's body language during and after the transmission with Sarah was cut off. KITT noticed that the look on Cira's face was hiding something inside rather well. He wasn't going to ask, and he then decided that he was not going to tease or comment Mike, especially in front of Cira. The sign was so subtle if he hadn't been paying attention to them so much, he probably would have been more inclined to say something. Luckily for them, KITT paid more attention to them than the road itself sometimes, even if it didn't seem like it. The voice box simply appeared to be glancing first at Mike, then at Cira, then back at Mike. After a long pause, he noted: "One recruit down, many more to go."
